SMITH: Norman Smith, loving husband of Lindee, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 with family by his side at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 79 years. Norman was born July 20, 1939 in the Blanshard Municipality and moved to the RM of Daly at the age of 6 years. He attended Oakleigh school (a one room school house) for grades 1 through 9. He worked on the family farm, which he took over and split farmed with his brother Hendry until retirement. He remained on the family farm for 73 years. Norman enjoyed 11 years in 4H Calf Club, Cadets, played hockey, oldtimers baseball, bowling, and the last 4 years camping with his granddaughters and family, going to Winnipeg Beach, Minnedosa, Souris, and Clear Lake. He was predeceased by parents William and Mary Smith, brother Gordon and sister Margaret Ann. Norman will be remembered by his loving wife Lindee, sons Scott (Jamie) and Dallas (Bounmy), and grandchildren Leigh, Morgan, Kerstin, and Brittany. Interment was held at the Rapid City Cemetery Friday, April 12, 2019. The Celebration of Norman's Life followed at the Rapid City Legion. Pastor Cliff Paul officiated. Pallbearers were Scott Smith, Dallas Smith, Dwayne Smith, Raymond Smith, Laurie Ringland and Gary Ringland. Honorary Pallbearers were Hazel and Vern Moyer. Donations in Norman's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
