GRAYSTON: Idabel Lola Grayston passed away on August 30, 2020 in St. Martha’s Place, Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff, AB, at the age of 92. Idabel was born in Moose Jaw, SK on November 6, 1927 to William King and Lola King (nee Grose). She finished high school in Newdale, MB, and attended Winnipeg Business College where she learned secretarial and administrative skills. Idabel studied piano as a young woman and was often the pianist at many worship services conducted by her father. She met her spouse John Grayston in Newdale, MB, and they were married August. 26, 1950. She shared her love and appreciation of music with her children, encouraging them to choose an instrument to learn. Idabel and John worked together to operate EB Chick Agency in Brandon, MB which they later purchased and operated as Grayston Hatchery at 1441 Pacific Ave. in Brandon until 1989. They were avid curlers in wintertime and enjoyed camping and our family cabin in the summers. Idabel moved to Banff in 2007, living with her daughter and at Cascade House. She was active in the Seniors Drop-In Center, and spoke with great enjoyment of her time and good friends there, visiting over tea. She was fond of reading and puzzles, often with a word puzzle book at hand or a large puzzle spread out on a card table. Idabel was predeceased by her siblings Harold and Mae who died in 1944 and 2016, respectively; and her spouse, John Grayston who died in 2006.
